Why do you want to be a school board member?

I would like to continue to serve on the Hemlock Board of Education to be part of the community family pride. I enjoy being involved with the school and the community events. We are a small community with a big heart, our pride is strong.

What does education justice mean to you? What does it mean specifically in the context of your school district?

Having the teachers whom are excellent role models to provide the advanced education of courses and to ensure the students to graduate and receive a diploma.

If you could completely reimagine the way schools look after this public health crisis, what would they look like?

A clean and comfortable place to learn and grow.

Describe how you think parents, students, and families should be involved in making decisions within your school district?

The students thrive for companionship they need the sense of normalcy, I’m sure it will bring new friendships as they discuss routines and reasons why things happen the way they do and how to resolve conflict before it becomes an issue. Parents, students, and families all have an interest in education we need to all stand for their rights and respect them.

Having the teachers whom are excellent role models to provide the advanced education of courses and to ensure the students to graduate and receive a diploma.

What challenges do you anticipate this school year to COVID and what do you think your school district must do to keep students & staff safe?

The main challenge to me would be, to be at a safe distance at all times, no body can congregate in classrooms or at recess. They must continue to be at a safe distance as much as possible separation is sad

What should be your school district’s top spending priorities in their budget? Alternatively, what should not be prioritized your district’s budget?

The needed repair of the roofs and windows and electrical that was put in our sinking fund vote,

What role do you think standardized tests should play in your school district?

The standardized test should be set at a lower rating due to not all students having the broadened group discussions that may be necessary for some students to understand.

If you could have an impact on your school district’s curriculum , what changes would you make? What, if anything, would you keep the same?

I believe the curriculum is set at a great level for all students. I would keep the arts program the same including: drama and band.

What responsibility do you believe your school district has in supporting students’ and staffs’ mental and emotional health/wellbeing?

If a staff member notices any signs of mental or emotional display from a staff member or a student They should report it directly though our chain of command.

How do you think your school district should handle student discipline/and make schools a safe place for students and staff?

Depending on the severity discipline should be handled discret with whomever is involved and who ever needs to be involved to keep the school a safe place

The community involvement working together to provide a enjoyable and healthy, and safe environment.
