Why do you want to be a school board member?

Be an active participant in the community and meet more people.

What does education justice mean to you? What does it mean specifically in the context of your school district?

Fair and equal education for every student. Low income students should have the same opportunity for a great education as high income families do.

If you could completely reimagine the way schools look after this public health crisis, what would they look like?

A really innovative idea will come to light with a combination of technology and one on one teaching experience in person.

Describe how you think parents, students, and families should be involved in making decisions within your school district?

A balance between health, safety and high academic rating system. Putting children’s need for social interaction as an important aspect but also dependent on a self motivation feature. Each family needs to determine the strength and weaknesses …needs of each child.

Who (if any) are your top financial supporters for your campaign?

What are your top 3 educational priorities/goals within your school district?

available technology .. attract more students who want to attend the district… and making sure that the district is financially secure.

What are your top 3 educational priorities/goals at a state level?

Equal distribution of funds. Opportunity for all for the best education regardless of where they live. Advanced technology for all.

What challenges do you anticipate this school year to COVID and what do you think your school district must do to keep students & staff safe?

Keeping everyone at a safe distance yet having close interaction. Making sure all students have the tools they need to learn ie computer and WIFI. Personal cleanliness, Sanitizer available, clean Buildings and buses, and wearing masks.

What should be your school district’s top spending priorities in their budget? Alternatively, what should not be prioritized your district’s budget?

Technology and sanitation. Give the teachers what they need to keep the classroom safe. Less priority given to sports or after school activities. High priority on making in school learning a desirable comfort level.

What role do you think standardized tests should play in your school district?

As a tool to determine where the weakest links might be. What subjects need the most work for better scores.

If you could have an impact on your school district’s curriculum, what changes would you make? What, if anything, would you keep the same?

I need to learn more about this topic before I could answer it.

What responsibility do you believe your school district has in supporting students’ and staffs’ mental and emotional health/wellbeing?

It is very important and communication is key to understanding the impact. A calm and thoughtful atmosphere must be in place at all times to gain true understanding of the needs of each individual.

How do you think your school district should handle student discipline/and make schools a safe place for students and staff?

There should be no question as to what the rules are. A means to follow up and enforcement is a must. A clear path to communicate of the rules what the discipline entails and how checks and balances will occur needs to be written and oral.

What are your top priorities around special education in your district?

Make sure it is offered .

What is your perspective on working towards achieving equity within your school district?

Each person treated with dignity and respect. Regardless of income, race, or ability each person has a gift to contribute.

This is my first time working with a school district.
