Residence since 2005. My Children are in the District. Member of Farmington African-American Parent Network since 2014. Former member of PTA, Sports Coach and Boy Scout leader, and many other volunteer organizations.

How would you engage and include parents, caregivers, community members and students in decision-making in your district around things like curriculum, budgeting and district policy?

I will hold online and in person meetings, reach out to different organizations to receive feedback and suggestions.

What are your thoughts on school discipline and the way it is exercised in your school district? What are your thoughts on restorative practices?

My thought for school discipline is to treat each incident in a fair manner. Work with school, parents and resource officer to determine the best course of corrections as where the student. Currently the district has improved on its discipline guidelines and disparity amount students.

What are your thoughts on how to improve student mental health

Create a safe place, and easy availability to mental health professionals, without judgement.

What are your thoughts on ways to improve Black student achievement in your district and in Michigan schools overall?

Create a pointed effort to seek out African-American student to encourage and create a non-intimidating atmosphere to engage in their achievement.

What are your thoughts on how to ensure that all students and their families, regardless of race, gender identity, sexuality, disability, religion, income status, etc., feel safe and included in your district?

Listen to the students and find out what the needs and to make sure that each one is given a voice.

What are your thoughts on how to recruit and retain staff, particularly staff of color, in your district with regard to pay, benefits, and working conditions?

Create a welcoming environment and purposely include them in policy and decision making.
