Stanton, Katie - TK School District

Are you an incumbent?

Greetings TK School District community! I am running for TK School Board Trustee. Speaking and voting on behalf of our community would be an honor. I will dedicate the time and quality of work necessary to raise the bar at TK.
First let me introduce my family, my husband David and I have been married for 15 years. It has been a privilege to raise our family in the TK community. Our youngest son, Bryden, is currently in first grade and loves soccer, football, basketball, and art. Our oldest, Roxi, is in 6th grade. She was interviewed and accepted on student council for this year. Roxi loves basketball, volleyball and playing family golf. They are hardworking students, and I’m always inspired by their dedication to become better. The TK district community values, along with a school system that focuses on high standards has been a wonderful experience for us.
I have always wanted to see every student thrive to the best of their ability. While attending college I was a double major in Business Administration and Elementary Education. I learned about fiscal discipline, analyzing spreadsheets, different learning philosophies and styles, the duties of each part of the school system, we created a playground, etc. I enjoy learning and will never stop. During this time, I subbed as a teacher and paraprofessional for multiple school districts. This allowed me to acknowledge strengths and weaknesses within different school districts. The experiences along with education allow me to give out of the box ideas for the betterment of the district.
Today, I thoroughly enjoy being very active in the community as a Board of Review member, TK Reproductive Health Advisory Board member, and Memorial Day parade Committee volunteer. In addition, it’s always been a joy to me when coaching youth basketball. My family and I love our community and want to embrace it by getting involved.
In addition, to College Prep courses at TK and public service offerings, I would like to see more visibility with hands on experiences with trades in our schools for those that choose not to go to college. Also, the STEM program is a great resource for thriving students to expand their knowledge. I also bring an important role in safety to the Board of Education. I believe strongly in the safety of our students and staff, given the times that we live in. I have some ideas that have not been presented before and will work with the Sheriff, school board members, and faculty to present these ideas.
We can raise the bar against the threats we face in today's society. We must expect the unexpected. I believe in the fundamental rights of parents, including but not limited to the direct education, medical care and moral upbringing of their children. It's important to advance policies that strengthen parental involvement and decision making, increased transparency and defend against government political agenda overreach. I will support our TK students, faculty, and curriculum director to continue the great heritage of TK public schools exceptional education. I will serve with the values of accountability and integrity at the forefront of decision making.
