Here is some info shared by this candidate regarding working with school community stakeholders:

I think it is important for Board members to host community meetings in neighborhoods throughout the city so parents, students, and community members can come and discuss school related issues directly with a Board member. These would be opportunities for Board members to present upcoming proposals and solicit community feedback before formal School Board meetings.
It's also important that students have their own independent voice in District decisions. I would support students organizing an independent student union in which they decide their own organizational structure and elect their own representatives to bring concerns and recommendations to the Board.

Engaging parents, caregivers, community members, and students in decision-making is all about collaboration and transparency.

For curriculum development, I'd form committees where parents, students, and teachers can join forces—think of it as the ultimate superhero team-up.

For budgeting, we’d host interactive workshops, making the process as engaging as possible with activities like “Build Your Ideal School” using play money, complete with prizes for the most innovative ideas.

Policy-making would involve “Policy Parties,” where everyone can share their thoughts in a relaxed setting with some music and refreshments.

And for ongoing communication, I’d set up a dedicated text line so you can send your questions and ideas directly to me, ensuring your voice is heard. We’ll make sure the frequent questions and themes are shared publicly to keep everyone informed. By blending fun with function, we can ensure that everyone feels valued and included in shaping our district’s future!

My primary goal is to be the voice for our parents, our instructors, our administrators and our students. These voices are the results of the DPSCD’s decision making. So, we must listen as a school board member to the people.

Here is some info shared by this candidate regarding working with school community stakeholders:

Engaging parents, caregivers, community members, and students in DPSCD decision-making is crucial. I will form curriculum committees with diverse members to ensure changes are relevant and culturally responsive and advocate for voting rights for high school students on school boards.

For budgeting, I will conduct workshops and implement participatory budgeting, allowing community votes on allocations. I will establish policy advisory councils to review and recommend policies and host regular forums and town hall meetings for feedback and transparency.
