Why do you want to be a school board member?

I am compelled to run for the open seat because of my firm conviction and belief in the value of education. Education is the key to improve the your way of life.

What does education justice mean to you? What does it mean specifically in the context of your school district?

Education justice means that everyone has the same opportunity to an enriched education regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, and/or ethnicity .

If you could completely reimagine the way schools look after this public health crisis, what would they look like?

We will ensure there is a multi-layered protocols to maintain safety for all students, support staff, teachers, and administrators.

Describe how you think parents, students, and families should be involved in making decisions within your school district?

There is an conduit with school board meetings and administrators to relay issues and concerns.

College Readiness, Proficient in Reading, Proficient in Mathematics

What challenges do you anticipate this school year to COVID and what do you think your school district must do to keep students & staff safe?

A well developed Covid-19 Preparedness Program-multi-layered protocols

What should be your school district’s top spending priorities in their budget? Alternatively, what should not be prioritized your district’s budget?

To ensure we have well qualified teachers-that teachers are paid what they worth.

What role do you think standardized tests should play in your school district?

Standardized tests should still be used to monitor the growth of our students.

If you could have an impact on your school district’s curriculum , what changes would you make? What, if anything, would you keep the same?

A continued focus on math and sciences. To ensure everyone has the same opportunity to read at the highest level.

What responsibility do you believe your school district has in supporting students’ and staffs’ mental and emotional health/wellbeing?

It is necessary for everyone to monitor each other’s emotional health/wellbeing. Our responsibility to escalate to correct personnel.

How do you think your school district should handle student discipline/and make schools a safe place for students and staff?

Continue our process we have in place in our subcommittee to listen to each situation individually.

What are your top priorities around special education in your district?

Ensure all have the same opportunities for education.

What is your perspective on working towards achieving equity within your school district?

Carman-Ainsworth has programs to train and educate all on equity and diversity.
